StepUp2Green's mission is to provide homeowners the information, guidance and incentive to implement upgrades to home and property that will save energy and water while enhancing indoor air quality.

StepUp2Green is an incentive-based program, designed to encourage environmentally conscious choices in home remodeling projects. Started by local Monterey Bay region community members, StepUp2Green is guided by the principals of simplicity and accessibility.

WHAT

StepUp2Green has produced a one-page checklist of energy, water, and resource-saving steps homeowners can take to reduce waste, emissions, and encourage cleaner, more efficient forms of energy production. Different levels of green can be achieved according to how many actions are completed. The program offers recognition for homeowners, promotion of green alternatives for retailers — to help drive the market toward change — and the possibility of streamlined permitting through on-going collaboration with county and municipal Building departments.

StepUp2Green is being first unveiled in Monterey County, California. StepUp2Green was designed to be licensed and spread to other communities and regions throughout the United States and beyond. Created as a 'bottom-up' rather than a 'top-down' system, each licensed area will be able to modify certain parameters which would make the most sense for their own local green economy.
